Umbilical Cord Banking Redefined
It is an accepted fact endorsed by the medical fraternity world over that 95% of blood related disorders can be treated only by donor (allogeneic) UCB. Less than 5% can be treated by your own (autologous) UCB.
In most blood-related disorders Umbilical Cord Blood Transplant (UCBT) is recommended to be that of another person (allogenic) and not your own (autologous). If the child develops a disease such as leukemia or genetic/inherited disorders etc, the cord needs to be discarded rendering it unusable.
Understanding the limited utility of your own cord blood unit for therapeutic application, Mycord has introduced the first Private Umbilical Cord Pool Banking concept in the country. Banking with us allows your family to become members of a combined pool of units via its Mycord Precious Pool Plan (MPPP). Mycord advocates that each UCB unit privately banked be stored as part of a pool thereby providing an easy access to the best-matched cord blood unit.
It is imperative that every ‘parent-to-be’ must understand the gravity of the situation as summarized and act accordingly.
- Use of your own cord blood in majority conditions is not recommended
- UCB Transplant requires a matched unit from another person, related or unrelated
- Procurement of cord blood from a public bank outside of India, if available is very expensive
- Most patients in India needing UCB transplant are deprived due to unavailability of matched units
Preserving your baby’s cord blood stem cells with Mycord Precious Pool Plan (MPPP) along with cord tissue stem cells offers a complete cover from a wide range of blood-related and tissue degenerative ailments.
